Much of DK seems to have morphed back into concern-troll central since the election.  Not real trolls of course, just many of us going back to our reflexively-cynical ways.

We did good, folks.  Obama did good, Warren did good, the Senate did good.  Many other good things happened.

We still live in an unsustainable empire at the end of the corporate consumerist era.  Our leaders -- good and bad -- have to function within that reality just as we do.

Yes we have to push to protect Social Security & Medicare, but imo the way to do this is to attack the enemy and the bad ideas, not ourselves.  Like Reich, you may notice.

We know the other side and what they are capable (or incapable) of.  Our side never fails to disappoint.

Frankly, I don't see Obama pulling off anything more (which of course is a lot) than winning an election.  Look at who he's faced over the years - he's been incredibly lucky in who his opponents have been.  One good one at the state level he lost against.  One other - Hillary - he did good, although she seemed to self-implode imo.  The rest were largely crap candidates.  So I take little significance in his success this time.  It all depends what he does when he's not in election mode.  And time will tell about that.

I should say some, like Warren, truly offer a meaningful success.
