  •  just my opinion (4.00)
but I would like to see something action oriented. I'm not sure what that would be or how to do it...that's why we're asking for suggestions:) But hopefully the convention will not just be about the issues, but what we can DO about them. We can discuss the issues all day long on the blog...but there is something very powerful about us actually coming together. Its an opportunity to take what happens in the blogosphere to another level.

In my opinion, the issues of labor are everyone's issues. With that, I'm looking forward to your proposal :)

    •  I agree 100% (4.00)
with your action oriented session.  Perhaps the Camp Wellstone people could do something.

    •  Agree also and I can tell you... (4.00)
from personal experience there are no more action oriented people than trade unionists.  They know their lives--the lives of all working class people--depend on collective action.  And they know how to organize, not just unions, but all kinds of things, especially get-out-the-vote campaigns.

The best folks in the movement talk the talk and walk the walk. They relate to everyday folks in ways guys like Kerry, unfortunately, never will.

Some unions are doing amazing things with outreach to undocumented workers; cross-border solidarity movements; international/national issues like worker protections, child labor, health care, and, more recently, the war in Iraq.

Right now, a group called U.S. Labor Against the War (USLAW) is coordinating a national tour here for Iraqi trade unionists. It's going to be great.

Anyway, I'm running on (getting excited here). You get the idea. Hope you all support it and spread the word to others to suggest same.

      Thanks heaps.
