... must be a regular Faux Snooze watcher.

I thought it was understood that it was the $COTU$ decision that made either the fine or the monthly premiums a "tax" that made Obamacare "legal."  The franchise owner is a corporate tool who loves corporations, right?

Under Dumbya's reign, Medicare Part D [prescription drugs] recipients were forced to buy corporate insurance 'or else.'  No definitive penalty.

When our stupid, stupid, stupid Congress Critters were discussing private insurance [not the not-for-profit single-payer, government-managed health insurance We The People favored], the insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical corporations wrote a penalty clause into the legislation.  I'm still unclear as to who gets the $1000 fine - the US Treasury or some jackass fascist insurance corporation.

As a senior citizen, I have Medicare (Part A, Part B, Part D) and the monthly Medicare premium is deducted from my Social Security before it's deposited in my account (no, that monthly Medicare payment doesn't stop even after one retires and is no longer working, or too disabled to work - Medicare premiums are auto-withheld).

However, when I heard the for-profit health insurance bill passed without anyone except Kucinich being brave enough to even mention the not-for-profit single-payer option, I was immediately pissed off.  I was very disappointed that Kucinich caved after one ride on AF-1.  Worse:  After the majority in Congress voted for this corporate b.s., they whined:  'Well it was the best we can do for now.  We'll pass it and then fix it later.'  It's later.  FIX IT by eliminating corporate control of our health care!!!

I see no valid reason we should be mandated to contribute to the profit margins of insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical corporations.  Insurance pays corporate-run hospitals and clinics and prescription drugs (altho some drugs are not covered and/or there's a co-pay), and we pay the insurance corporations.

As near as I can tell, it's a circuitous exchange of money between corporations (money laundering, anyone?)..., and I am assuming the record-setting profits will just be passed from one corporation to another, and the corporate executives will get very, very, very hefty yearly bonuses because we're forced to pay their outrageous premiums (which I'm sure they'll keep on increasing because with the cash cows coming in, hospitals and clinics and pharmaceuticals will all jack up their prices..., and to pay for all of that, we'll be forced to add "supplemental insurance" on to the enforced corporate premiums, just as many senior citizens and disabled people already have to do if they don't apply for county/state medicaid to supplement what Medicare does not pay for because the hospital, clinic, and drug costs keep going up, up, and up.

I lay the blame for this insanity at the feet of Obama and all the Congress Critters who were so fu#king gung-ho to let the corporations dictate the terms of our health care while adamantly refusing to pass anything sensible.

The logical thing to do is put everyone on Medicare (no overhead for corporate profits to consider, shareholders to be paid, bonuses to award to the already-rich muckety mucks).  Medicare is working efficiently (surprise!), the infrastructure is in place, and to handle the extra paperwork Americans could be hired to handle the increased workload right here in our own country (no need to outsource).  The economic impact would be virtually instantaneous with so many extra people paying taxes at the federal and state and local level, buying things, paying state sales tax on goods and services their new salaries would enable them to buy.  Price caps for medical and pharmaceutical costs would have to be put in place before the fascist corporations raise their prices out of the ability for most to afford, even with Medicare.

Really..., it could have been SOOOOOOO simple...!

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.
    -- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.
    -- Benito Mussolini

Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity, quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace.
    -- Benito Mussolini
In the last twelve yers, first we had the outrageous record-setting profits by oil, military-industrial complex, and mercenary corporations for the sake of lies to carry out a war of choice to control the oil in Iraq and to build a pipeline across Afghanistan (the little criminal gang, Al Quaida, hiding in the mountains was a diversion)..., and to add to that outrage, now there is the money we are being forced to donate to insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical corporations so they, too, can make record-setting profits.

How long does this nonsense go on before people wake up and start to see reality?

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor

The Dems let thevthugs go on their Death Panel rants all summer without one ofbthem or even PBO coming out with an ad explaining that it was just paying a doc for end of life care.
