but does any one else get fucking pissed off when the right accuses us of the same things we accuse them of doing sans the facts.

It makes me sick. It really delegitimizes any argument we would have against them because they turn around and throw it right back in our faces.

This is a great example. We know the right tried, successfully in a lot of cases, to suppress/fraud the vote. There were numerous states who cut back on early voting, who forced many wrongfully to vote on provisional ballots, and forced people who wanted to vote into waiting in line for hours on end. We know that, we see the effects of it every night on Rachel's show.

And yet the right argues, without evidence or proof, but the same accusations, that we are doing the same thing. I mean, this is a problem. How do we 1) prove that we were right about our accusations and 2) prove that they were wrong about theirs in a quick, easy to digest 30 second soundbite without coming off as professorial/uninterested/too wordy to the idiots who can't fucking make up their minds and the dolts in the media? Its a catch 22, and its dangerous, because it means that we can no longer criticise the right and have it be effective, because they just throw it back in our face without the exhaustive evidence that we have on our side. It is just as effective for the right, they have proven that they do not have to back up their claims.

to wake up and finally say, "wow, the GOP peddle nothing but crap!"

The election is heartening, but I have to admit: I see this being uphill battle. As they say, "a lie is half way around the world while the truth is still putting its pants on."

Great comment- and something we have to be working on.

Because republicans and democrats are held to different standards in the media. This is another huge problem.

The instant that a democrat ties doing the SAME EXACT thing that these republican assholes do, they are pilloried for it both in the networks and on cable news. So, effectively, we can't fight republicans on their own terms, because we are held to a higher standard.

So fighting fire with fire is out. And honestly, beyond that I can't figure a way out of the Catch 22 I presented in the parent comment.

      1) Attack the opponent for your own weaknesses
      2) Attack the opponent's best strengths

It's what he does.  Despite the spectacular failures this time around, he's had a lot of success with it in years gone by.

it is an effective strategy in the context of a media that refuses to do its own research
