      Of a quote by Pascal (and I'm going to butcher it, as it's my day off and my brain, other than for completing basic life functions, is not cooperating) that says something like "Men [sic] never do evil so cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction".

      He was right back when he lived, and would be appalled at what's going on now. I don't believe in hell, but if I did, I would hope there's a special place there for these assholes.

        Something about how it requires religious belief to get good people to do really bad things.  Maybe he was thinking of Pascal when he said it.

        I wouldn't wish hell on anyone.  I don't understand how anyone could desire such an awful thing to befall even the most wicked members of humanity.  I couldn't worship a being who inflicts such a fate on my fellow humans.
