    a door?

    I liked that bit in that one Neil Gaiman book where the old lady says "I'm sorry. It starts with doors." That's a great line. And true of many stories.

      There's a British farce that was also a big hit on Broadway called Noises Off and it's all about doors and sardines.  (It's also about a play, and what's going on backstage as well as onstage...but doors and sardines is the funnier line, which I cribbed from the Playbill.)
