Hey.... was waiting for the open thread because I didn't have my camera ready tonight on the way home which would turn it into a diary.

Whilst on my way home from downtown Oakland, I passed a group of students holding up handmade signs saying Thanks for voting for education.... this was near the intersection of Grand and I-580 near the Grand Lake Theatre.  Mucho honking and waving and it actually brought a tear to my eye.

When was the last time somebody ever said THANKS for a political act in such an expressive way.  I was kinda glowing in the karma trying to thing of the last time I felt just exactly this way... because it seemed a very unique feeling at that moment.

And then it hit me.... it was when Gavin declared marriage legal and started marrying people at city hall in SF... and fuck ANONYMOUS people from all over the US were sending flowers to these folks who finally could taste happiness.

That's EXACTLY what I felt.  And DAMN it was good.

    Here's to the future.

Some folks trust to reason. Others trust to might. I don't trust to nothing. But I know it come out right.

I've probably re-read this message a dozen times for grammar or whatever errors, and then I noticed declared marriage legal and started marrying people at city hall in SF

(sigh)  ... of course I meant same sex marriage

Maybe I've just become so acclimated to the victory for same sex marriage recently that I failed to note that Gavin Newsom was well ahead of the curve on same sex marriage - he put his butt on the line in 2004.
