    Are imported.  It's too bad really.  Why do all the micro-brewers only make ales?

      The biggest cost for most microbrewers is the equipment (big stainless steel tanks); lagers tie it up for much longer, and thus require a lot more capital to produce the same amount of beer.

      That, and lagers are much less forgiving than ales. A boatload of hops will mask a lot of small imperfections in an IPA; it's hard to do the same with a light lager.
