  •  What's the story on the full Arizona count? (6+ / 0-)

Last I heard, they still had a half-million votes to count, and only a few days to do so before certification is locked down...and Richard Carmona was down about 78,000 votes from Jeff Flake.

I realize it's very unlikely for him to overcome this lead (he'd have to get something like 60% of the remaining half-million to pull it off), but there's still a bunch of state/local races that could be easily impacted by this issue.

Less than 200k - Maybe 175k? - Everyone should be done by Friday or so

      PHOENIX (CBS5) -
There are 192,337 early and provisional ballots around Arizona that still have to be processed and counted.
      (as of wednesday at 5)

I'm pretty sure both Pima and Cochise were counting after 5 PM..

the state elections website shows updated totals

if you click on the icons on the presidental race, you can see provisional totals. When total provisionals counted reaches to 200 or 225k they are pretty close to done.

Carmona is still almost 4 points behind. Really not much chance he will catch up.

        ...around 82,000 votes.

Yeah, even if there's 225,000 left to go, he'd have to win them by like 2:1, and that's certainly not likely to happen.

Still, I'm sure there's all sorts of county commissioners, sheriffs, school boards and the like that could be impacted.

hasn't made up much ground these past few days and he would have to win the remaining vote by around a 70-74% clip. It's safe to say Flake is the freshman senator from AZ.
