    "40 hour work week" - I know many people who work 50-55-60 hours a week and are only paid for 40 of them.  Employers get away with it by calling the employees "salaried" instead of "hourly" - even people who earn less than $10 an hour.  They are "salaried" because they get paid once a month and the paycheck is always the same amount every month.
