There isn't much indication that the powers that be in the Republican Party have changed in any respect whatsoever.

Boehner and McConnell are pretending to talk to President Obama, but they pretended before, and nothing got done.  They snookered him before, and they have set him up to snooker him again.  He's not going to get much from them when it comes to cooperation.   They're a couple of antagonistic s.o.b.'s - they just are, and they don't like Democrats - don't like 'em at all.  Did you watch the Republican Convention, everybody, hello?  They don't like us.

The only good thing about all this is that the nation will watch as they continue to be the same @$$clowns that they have been for years on end, and over time, their tactics will become less and less effective.

So, no, or yes, maybe they are flailing around a little, but there is no remorse being shown, no change of heart, and no insight.  No repentence.   They don't seem capable of asking for redemption, and wouldn't recognize it if it hit them in the head like a 2 X 4.

        fiscal cliff talks: White House

There are a number of steps that I'm sure the president and leaders will consider but I don't want to characterize what that process will look like because we're not near the finish line, by any means," he said.

When asked if the president and congressional leaders had agreed to a "two-tier" plan, Carney told reporters: "You're getting way ahead of the process." He said Obama remains focused on the expiring tax cuts for those with middle and low incomes.

It's everyone but the GOP themselves.
