Let's compare CEO compensation with union wages before we condemn unions.
I'd bet total union wages are at least 1000 times that of CEO wages.

The CEO wages are purely symbolic, and make very little difference to the bottom line.  $1MM on $600 billion of debt isn't even a drop in the bucket.  It's a water molecule in the ocean.

and if all of the workers being laid off were making $2 more per hour than non-union wages, that is only $74M.

Another drop in the bucket that would not save the company.

So why blame the unions for the company's failure?

In addition, the unions had already made concessions.

The money went to raises for CEO's and whatever version of Bain was "advising" the company, while the debt grew.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. Barack Obama

    •  $600 billion? (0+ / 0-)

where did you get that number?

It's been a hundred years, isn't it time we stopped blaming Captain Smith for sinking the Titanic?
