    If I'm correct the bankrupting business wants to sell its brand and other assets...yet it owes the Union pension.  Why doesn't the Union demand those assets for its pension?? Can't they get backing from the Unions, purchase the assets reduce overhead of management, keep the doors open for 18k workers and move forward?

      bankruptcies is a disgrace, especially when you consider that many employees over years and years FOREGO wage increases and pick up more of the cost of of benefits soley to protect their pensions. The companies stiff the employees and turn the costs over to the taxpayers as many pensions are insured by the Federal government. Talk to some airline pilots about this issue some time.
