according to Bloomberg. It'd be interested to know who the owners are.

Fehr joins Black Elk as new COO

Black Elk Energy has hired Douglas W. Fehr, an energy executive with 29 years of experience, as COO. Fehr recently retired from BP Americas as technical director for a major pipeline system and marine terminal in Turkey. Previously, he was director for the Sangachal Terminal in Azerbaijan.

And their website, Black Elk Energy, is blocked.

There was an explosion. A water skimmer... which separates water from oil... was cut.

Hoffman said a construction crew was finishing work on a water skimmer when it appears that the wrong line was cut, which resulted in the explosion and fire. A water skimmer is a device that separates water from oil.

The platform is a shallow water operation in the West Delta Block 32 of the Gulf of Mexico.
