  •  I'd been thinking he was really after Hillary. (4+ / 0-)

Susan Rice kind of a way in, then wham, after Sec. of State in order to damage her, he wishes! Then she'd not be able to become president, should she decide to run, he thinks. The Republicans were willing to let her be, to even praise her, but since she's leaving her post and may be gearing up to run in 2016, they must all fear her so all their animus, their hatred and insanity about the Clintons would be coming back! Because the economy will have rebounded by then, things will be brighter and people will be appreciating the ACA health care they have. Which all means a popular Democrat, the first woman president, she would be an intimidating foe. Plus she is wicked smart, accomplished, experienced and strong. They must be out of their minds thinking she could usher in two more terms (4 straight) of Democratic domination of the WH!

But maybe it is some of that, and McCain's crying need for relevance which for sure is a major force in him, along with some good old revenge against Obama, his hated foe who won. Twice! Poor old guy is just pathetic now. Missing, or skipping that hearing is proof of that.

Thanks for your diary, Susan! I often think of you, as today, when I'm looking at mysteries in the library!
