  •  I felt strongly that Petraeus would lie (13+ / 0-)

    about what happened.

Romney and the GOP propagandizers seized on the situation immediately because the only way that they were are dominate the whole nation under Bush was through the terrorist hysteria.  This was a weak and ill-planned attempt to do that and to also try to create a Watergate type of incident.  To the Republicans terrorism is their friend.

I've never had respect for John McCain who the media created as a faux moderate.  He engaged in a few bipartisan efforts, most notably campaign finance reform which was only a mild attempt at any real reform.  But I never saw McCain's actions or votes as different from the Republican platforms and values.  He might express his positions a bit differently but he was always a part of the machine.

I think as much as Romney he believed that it was his turn to be president; in fact, Bush/Cheney gave him that impression even as the disrespected him and released their full negative machine against him in the primaries.

So I think he's not only bitter about his loss but also really pissed at the plutocrats who didn't support him in 2008.
It's his last ditch effort now to try to feel he's important again.  No one else thinks so.
