  •  When will we focus on cities again? (15+ / 0-)

I get tired of always hearing about the middle class when this country really ought to be paying a whole lot more attention to the underclass.

Sorry about the kid.  Hope all your other students remain safe and well.

I understand Obama focusing so much on the middle class in the election.  It's the way to win, and it speaks to many changes in the economy that truly need to happen, as fast as possible.   But the poor, especially the desperately poor and oppressed, the underclass, are not being taken care of or even talked about -- not nearly enough.

I'm so sorry about this 15 year old.  And all the other lives lost.

As we're able to get the economy moving again, we have to push for the inclusion of the very poor.  Poverty is at the heart of so much of the alienation and violence.

more job creation and vocational education and infrastructure projects, anything that helps with revitalization and helps people find/develop new skill sets, will help reduce, maybe even eliminate poverty and expand that middle class.  It's the only way to end the nihilism and violence.  Every single death on the streets is a tragedy that deprives us all of what that person was and could have become.
