  •  A Michigan wind farm is using offshore blades (4+ / 0-)

rather than domestic blades because the uncertainty of the tax credit, domestic blade producers wouldn't ramp up their capacity for a one-off order. WIthout the tax credit they're scaling back rather than taking orders when they're on the table.

    Pisses me off.

    •  Thats a damn shame (2+ / 0-)

    •  This is the basic problem renewables face (3+ / 0-)

Everywhere because markets are still developing, fragmented and full of uncertainty.

The solution is actually more international cooperation and consortia, but protectionist rules are on the rise so it's unlikely to get solved any time soon.

Virtually all solar and wind companies go through feast and famine cycles based on the number of projects they can capture and even the leader in wind, Vestas, is on the brink of bankruptcy. Ditto many of the leading solar companies.

People have to get used to these companies failing until there is more long term policy on not just national levels but international as well.
