  •  Yeah, definitely better than the previous episode (8+ / 0-)

The ending seemed weak to me... the final scenes are usually really good, but this one seemed off.

What impressed me about the episode is the way they were able to make Brody sympathetic again through his interactions with the party host/Vietnam vet.

How did you read the makeout session between Carrie & Brody? The scene is intentionally left vague & wide open to interpretation.

      • Was Carrie being genuine & expressing her true emotions?
      • Was she manipulating Brody in an attempt to keep him compliant?
      • Was Brody's response an attempt to manipulate Carrie's emotions?

I have to believe the juxtaposition of Saul having his emotions played with & manipulated by Aileen was meant to foreshadow something in Carrie's situation with Brody.

he was probably being more genuine than she was.

The way she looked at him in the middle of the makeout session made me think she was being manipulative, although she undoubtedly does have genuine feelings for him.

President Barack Obama has made no secret that he's a fan of Showtime's "Homeland." Obama has been singing the Emmy-winning drama's praises since the first season and the cast and network have returned the love for the president.

While on "The Jonathan Ross Show," "Homeland" star Damian Lewis revealed that they sent Obama a signed DVD set, with each star adding a personal flavor to their signature.

"Claire Danes had written something really lovely and sweet saying, 'I was a fan of yours long before you were a fan of ours,'" Lewis said. Then he started racking his brain for what he should write. "I went, 'From one Muslim to another' in an indelible Sharpie. I couldn't take it back."

Lewis said he was writing emails for the next week, hoping the president understood his joke.

      • The more I think about the hit & run, the less about it that makes sense. For example, has no one noticed a big dent in Finn's $50,000 BMW? I can believe the VP and his wife not making it out to the garage that often, but wouldn't the Secret Service be interested in that sort of thing, and maybe put 2 & 2 together with him ditching his detail by driving like a maniac, a report of a hit & run in the area, and damage to his car?
      • Attorney General Eric Holder's picture was on the wall at the prison, which seems to be another indication that "Homeland" is set in a bizarro timeline where Obama is only serving one term as President, and Walden is his VP.
      • Along the same lines, another aspect of the "Homeland"-verse I've seen some people bring up & wonder about is whether Osama bin Laden ever existed in the show's version of events, or if we're to assume Abu Nazir is his analogue/equivalent that's been the power behind al-Qaeda? The September 11th Attacks have been referenced within the show, but I don't think bin Laden has ever been mentioned by name.

Finn being kicked out of the house (VP residence)?

Are we supposed to take away that he has/had some sort of prior drinking problem?

The conversation between the Vice President & his' wife didn't seem to indicate that Finn had been a problem before. And I felt like they were putting him into the limo and sending him back to the VP's residence to defuse the situation between him & Dana, and get him out of the public eye & away from the donors that were present.

The one aspect of this storyline that I like is that the situation leaves Brody with exactly what he wanted last year. He has information that can destroy Walden's career & possibly put him in jail, but he has destroy himself & his family to do it.
