  •  interesting. it's hard to be a third-party person (0+ / 0-)

on dkos. Any time that I explain that neither Gore nor Kerry actually won my vote, people assume I must have supported Bush and attribute their lack of my vote to everything except for the fact that I preferred another, even knowing I was not going to get the one I voted for.

    •  and how did those not gore, not kerry votes (3+ / 0-)

      work out for you?

they have to win your vote?  does the environment have to "win" your vote?  did the iraqis who died "win" your vote?

get over yourself and vote what's in the best interest of the most people.

      •  Has Obama prosecuted Bush War crimes? Did you get (0+ / 0-)

what you wanted? Even most of it?

to prosecute if all the "other" voters had gone with gore.  there would be far fewer to prosecute had they gone with kerry.

which brings us right back to that whole get over yourself and do what's best for the most people thing.

          •  And if all the cheating had been squared away in (0+ / 0-)

those two elections, it wouldn't have been a problem either. It is not my fault that the democratic candidates could not win my vote, and it obviously didn't matter either since neither one fought for the uncounted votes or against the irregularities. Why would my vote have made any difference?

And yes, democrats, you do have to earn my vote. It is not yours for the taking. I gave my votes to the democrats that deserved them. Kucinich/Biden was my ticket. Too bad the democratic candidates at the time did not stand up for your rights to an untarnished election, never mind mine.

no, you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need.
either you want the best thing you can get under the circumstances, or you just want to complain that things aren't perfect.  you clearly fall in the latter camp.

              srsly...grow up.

Both times. And I wanted Bush war crime prosecutions. But it isn't going to happen because what his administration did was considered "legal" under American law. That's why we had to go to such bizarre lengths as to declare "The U.S. will stop using torture."

The wars are being wound down. That's what I voted for. I voted for some sort of toe hold against health insurance company abuses and we have that. We have foundations for the future that did not exist before.

And I definitely voted for smart, non-cowboy foreign policy, and the USA is better for it.

          •  and this time around, so did I. And I got what you (1+ / 0-)

got which feels better than I thought it would- the wars are being wound down, sort of, and the health care thing is not-romney. etc., so I bit the bullet and did it. But it's not supposed to be this way, and a two-party system is NOT enshrined in the Constitution even if some people insist on giving us choices of not-what-I-asked-for vs worse.

I voted for Obama at the last minute after watching his cool, sophisticated behavior around the foreign policy debate compared to Romney not having looked at a map in this lifetime, and because of recision and pre-existing conditions. But what I wanted was Kucinich. Kucinich/Biden, as a matter of fact.

And with the amount of cheating that went on in the two GWB elections, I have no reason to believe my vote would have made any difference.
