  •  the dust bowl and Malcolm X (8+ / 0-)

the Ken Burns' The Dust Bowl first episode was last night.

it chronicled the largest environmental disaster in the US

just in time for the awakening that humans have disrupted the biosphere

the nation wide tour Do the Math may come to an area near you

just finished the intellectually serious book "Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention" by Malcolm Marable.

From my time in Berkeley from 65-67, we knew the FBI was all over the place. They followed Malcolm for ever along with the CIA overseas, and NY Police and a special secret undercover NY police group BOSS.

Malcolm X reinvented himself as shown in the book. Towards the end he was on the path of the overall human community. Truly an amazing man and amazing life.

What if Barack Obama had the brains and guts of Malcolm X? And the commitment to the 99% and the future of the biosphere?

Now we see how the CIA chief was brought down by the surveillance state, one wonders how any political opposition like, Green Party, even the Democratic party, can operate without "anti terrorists" (according to Greenwald, terrorism is a meaningless term that can be used to justify anything). The internet is already being used to track all of us.

How many FBI agents were part of OWS? How many provocative incidents were instigated by undercover agents? How wide spread is the wiretapping and surveillance of OWS supporters? We do know that 90 journalists were arrested. WE know that

a short statement on the book from

“Manning Marable’s Malcolm X is his magnum opus, a work of extraordinary rigor and intellectual beauty … This majestic and eloquent tour de force will stand for some time as the definitive work on as enigmatic and electrifying a leader as has ever sprung from American soil.”

was challenged yesterday along with Congressional Black Caucus  to return campaign contributions from Big Oil and Mineral, and black colleges and universities were called on to divest.

This call was made quite powerfully in the DC "Do the Math Tour" by  Hip-Hop Caucus   President and CEO, Reverend Lennox Yearwood .   Was awesome.
