  •  Orca was a get out the vote program... (6+ / 0-)

Supposidly, Orca was a get out the vote program, but the influx of traffic caused Comcast to see it as a denial of service attack, and they shut down the internet...  There are murmers of voter fraud being investigated by the cyber devision of the FBI.  There is also stat anomalies occuring in Ohio in 2004.  This story isn't over, that's for sure.  Spread the word!

... potential DOS and DDOS attacks: their business-grade voice & data services go over the same transmission infrastructure as their cable TV services.

I know from personal experience with a client of mine, that Comcast gets very twitchy about anything that could take down their TV service, even for a few hundred subscribers (can't discuss details; client confidentiality).

      We got the future back.

DOCSIS services can't knock a DNCS off-line or DDOS it. Even the newer DOCSIS stuff is limited to the 5-60mHz portion of the cable, and there is still QoS running on all of the routers and switches between them.

About the worst they could do is block the reverse path and prevent VOD buys.
