    is burnt out. You did the right thing, even if they gave you a hard time. Now, by law, they have to investigate the situation.

    Local CPS may already be familiar with this family. The person you spoke to was likely not a local CPS worker, and not as understanding.

    Don't let the response get you down. You're a good and caring person. Many people would not have cared enough to even notice a child being abused. Thank you for being who you are.

      of a clearly drunken driver who I'd seen pushing a little boy so hard that he landed on his face. The boy was covered with scratches and bruises. The CPS worker I spoke to took all of the information I could give them, including the license number.

      CPS can and do work with the police, at least here in Pennsylvania. I'm sorry you ran into a sourpuss. I imagine CPS is inundated with reports these days, but that's no excuse for giving you a hard time.
