and maybe another diary, over seventy percent of BOTH Palestinians AND Israelis want an end to the fighting and a implementation of the 2-state solution, from a large study done by the US in 2009, republished by the NYT.

Right now, that's no different and maybe even higher numbers.

I'd like to see more moderate elements in control of both sides.

I often quote my experience back in about 1999 when my wife and I traveled to Greece, Turkey and Israel. In Israel we talked to Israelis, Palestinians and Arabs. ALL people we talked to really wanted the peace process to work and all for the same practical reason: it's good for business. I always think that Israel is messing up by strangling the Palestinian economy. If they don't have reason to have a stake in a stable society, they have far less of a reason to support peace...they need a business to be successful during peacetime and to be threatened by war. Gaza is one thing because of Hamas, but why isn't Israel everything it can to help the West Bank reach economic stability and growth. It would help BOTH sides.

Are you a Green who has difficulty telling Democrats and Republicans apart? Well, I have difficulty telling Greens and Maoists apart.

      •  Sure, it's right here (0+ / 0-)

        I posted it earlier today:

It was also republished in the NYT, which is where I got the link, but I don't know where that link is now. But here is a link to the study itself; it's been cited as well.

In the U.S., 82% of all Jewish people support a two-state solution, in broad contradiction to many anti-Semitic myths which suggest otherwise, incidentally.
