  •  Romney sets up corporations and trusts etc. to (0+ / 0-)

    hold his offshore money; they are not taxed the same way as an individual is taxed, as corporations and trusts have different laws applying to them.

    That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

      He has offshore entities that have elected to be treated as US partnerships.  He has a myriad of other holdings that he owns indirectly through other partnerships; those all have less beneficial tax treatment.

      I'm not sure what trusts you're talking about, but for income tax purposes the income from his Family Trust and the two blind trusts are treated no differently than any other income that he gets.

      as johnny (who is a practicing tax lawyer who did a deep dive on the two Romney returns made public) notes you are just wrong and your view was a common theme on the Internet. Most of what I read at DKOS concerning Romney's taxes was wrong, even though our handful of tax experts here tried hard to let people know the actual facts. The problem is that at DKOS we have a small number of tax experts, and hundreds of thousands of bloggers.
