  •  Saddler only had $600,000 (10+ / 0-)

Amazing that he got as many votes as he did!

    Dear J---,

Now that the campaigning is complete, it is very important to me that I express my sincere appreciation for your support throughout this election season.

Texans all across our state opened their homes, emailed friends, block walked and set up phone banks to help this campaign.  Between the republican primary and the general election we were out spent almost $50 million to $600,000.  When you consider that disparity the election results are remarkable.

During the final 8 days of the campaign, something happened that you should know about: Even with our limited resources, over 3.7 million unique hits were made to my Facebook page during that time.  What does that tell us?  Texans were looking for an alternative to the radical Tea Party positions on social security, medicare, medicaid, education, immigration, and women's health care.

These issues are too important for us to ignore.  We cannot allow obstructionist tactics to hurt our country and the people of this state.

So my question is - will you stay engaged and involved?  While the election results may appear to suggest that Texas is out of step with the rest of the country, I believe the late flurry of searching we experienced indicates that in fact Texas is not out of step, we are simply unable to get our message out.

In this election, Texas was clearly sacrificed for other races.  Although I am delighted with the results in those other races, at some point we have to stand up and say Texas Democrats matter, and not just for our capacity to donate.

We can win a statewide race but it will require all of us - not just some of us - to stay engaged and to inform our neighbors that it is not the Tea Party Republicans that represent us but the democrats that work for the future of all Texans.

Thank you again for your support.

    Sincerely,
    Paul Sadler

    Final Result:
    Cruz-56.6%, 4,456,599
    Saddler-40.5%, 3,183,314

Their demographic is shrinking, ours is growing.
    It's just a matter of time &
    WE NEED MORE $!

If Saddler did this well with only his little bit of money, imagine what he could have done with 3x's as much!
