    that one is always going to adopt stupid ideas that are peddled around...

    A stupid person still has a 50-50 chance of picking the better of two ideas, when asked to choose, even if he has the intelligence of a snail.

    And of course smart people don't always make the smart choice, either.

    So the IQ argument doesn't really work on that level.

    It's really about the overexposure people get to bad ideas.

    People think, "gosh, a truly stupid idea wouldn't be allowed to be repeated on the tv, or the radio... somebody who makes a lot of money and makes the decisions upstairs would knock it down and make sure it didn't get through... so this can't actually be a stupid idea after all..."

    They're wrong, but that's what they think.
