Good grief -- I LOVE Rachel Maddow. No one does it better. Does she do anything different that is suggested in the diary --  that she seems to get enjoyment out of the foibles of the Congress. Just like Cokie Roberts, except that Rachel confines her kicks to watching conservatives play.

As for the online conservative hacks the Post employs, that has nothing to do with objective analysis, of course. That's not reporting, it's opinion pages. They run those columns for one purpose. Because conservatives and liberals alike can keep away from those pages, and flood them with comments. VOLUME, VOLUME, VOLUME. High traffic numbers means higher ad values.  If you don't like them, really all you and the rest of us have to do is stop reading them. If we stop posting comments there, the conservative trolls will also stop. Before long, those columns will disappear.

    •  Rachel provide real analysis (8+ / 0-)

She deconstructs and shows the folly of the right. Cokie is an entitled member of the chattering class trying to hold onto to whatever cache she has left.

You just engaged in the false equivalency many are presenting to you as exactly what is wrong with journalism....

and even if you want to use sports, the anchor doesn't get on after a 51-49 game and say one side says they scored 51, the other says they scored figure it out...

      •  Horrible analogy (0+ / 0-)

My comment was specifically limited to the presentation of things where there is actual room for debate --where there are two sides to a proposition of unknowable truth.

To extend your analogy, it's more like a sportscaster explaining how each team thinks it can win, or discussing how one team thinks it was thwarted by a bad call by a referee and maybe deserved to win. You can quibble with their opinion, but you can't really say their opinion isn't worthy of discussion. If someone sees it that way, then their is a second viable perspective that isn't necessarily reflected by the score.  But, I wasn't even getting into subjective matters...or sports.
