    It is the huge vote-by-mail group that is taking so much time. Ballots are not due to the counties until polls close, then must be processed by hand. Provisional ballots also need to be dealt with. The process is slow.

    Washington State is all vote-by-mail, and they are still counting. We have our choice: allow only in-person voting, find a way to automate mailed ballots, or live with the delay. The first should not be considered, and the second is the best if it can be achieved.
