schizophrenic and who would go off her meds. SHe lived alone so no one could actually be with her to make certain she took them.  EVery few months MiL would be out int he street in her fancy upscale suburb banging pots. Neighbors who needed to sleep and didn't much care forher stainless steel pot version of the 1812 Overture at 3 in the mornign would call the cops who would call my friend. mMiL was often wearing one of those pots or a colander on her head "to keep out the false thoughts the govt. is broadcasting into my brain."

I know that sounds like comedy routine,  but it happened. My friend, worn out and fed up, called me the next day to talk about it.

I actually suggested they try convincing her that if she lined the colander with tin foil, it would help block the broadcasts--but that it would ONLY work IF she took the meds--that they would help her brain create a barrier to the broadcasts.

Probably wasn't good for MiL's perception of relity, but she wasn't gonna get better without the meds or have even a passing visit to reality--but at least my friend wouldn't have her sleep interrupted so frequently.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
