      Those are just the aggregate number of homes passed by the cable systems, not the actual number of homes receiving the programming.

      For instance, if a cable system in Portland passes 2 million homes and carries both MSNBC and Fox, then both nets are reported as having coverage of 2 million, even if MSNBC is on a higher tier that not all cable customers subscribe to.

        Here are the Nielsen cable channel (includes satellite & telco providers too) coverage estimates as of July 2012. To clarify after some questions, these are the number of households that actually receive each network, not the number that are simply eligible to receive them.
