      It might be ok for debunking bullshit when you already know the answer, but it's a terrible methodology when you're truly trying to learn.

      If you know something, spit it out.  Wasted effort is always wasted effort.

        to facts when you state them, but who do respond when they're forced to state or reconcile them themselves and choose between looking foolish or not. Obviously the situation here was one where the diarist was trying to teach, not learn.
