  •  Offensive to whom, though? (1+ / 0-)

I don't find the term "breeder" offensive on the grounds that the mean gay people are insulting the poor innocent non-gay people.  Especially not in this context, where the point of the exercise was to come up with a non-insulting term.

I find it offensive because it has implications that are equally dangerous to both gay and het people, and especially to women.  And I don't think those implications were intended by whoever first came up with it.

I also think now that "breeder" also may also connote to some varying degree of obviousness an underlying base, or sexual affront if received in its outermost, which then can be deemed offensive.

Also quite curious if I may add is that in situation or context, this word may also lend itself to varying degrees harmless and even maybe shockingly humorous.  I'm also a bit surprised that maybe a good number of those who hear this word may not even really instantly know this given meaning.  And as mentioned earlier, I'm pretty sure that I myself haven't even used this word as we refer to it here.......

Thanksgiving approaches....... and may it be festive for you and all of those important to you.......
