  •  100%- too high but 80% of coal emissions is doable (2+ / 0-)

for CCS. Natural gas works very well with variable renewable wind and solar. A slight majority of our US emissions come from oil not coal and people love their cars.

    •  Home heating is also an issue of oil/gas burning.. (0+ / 0-)

That we will have to address.

My brother implemented a heat exchanger system called a Hallowell Acadia heatpump, and it is getting the job done in NH using only electricity to operate the pumps and fans. And the next step will be to have solar supply the electricity.

Not pushing any particular product, just using it as an example of none hydrocarbon solution for heating/cooling ... it does heat and AC.

Has anyone published estimates on how much of our CO2 % comes from home furnaces burning oil/gas?

There is no reason that 99% of cars can't be electric. But we will have to invest in the infrastructure to support it.... both public charging locations and improving our local electric grid to handle the demand.
