  •  no he is damaged goods (6+ / 0-)

He is taking the fall for the republican defeat even though he ran a lot better than most senate candidates did. Also he has no govt position like McCain does.
Also not sure Romney wants to bother. His political career is over he can now stop hiding all his assets and admit he is a billionaire.
Still surprised he isn't chauffeured around like most super rich people are.

    •  can't wait until the tax returns come out (0+ / 0-)

eventually we will find out what he was hiding in them

      •  You'll be waiting forever. My feeling on them was (0+ / 0-)

that he suspected he'd lose and so he never felt it was worth revealing the returns, because they weren't going to help him win and might have cemented the loss.  Now that he has, in fact, lost, at least he still has his private returns.

        •  Might have sent him to jail (0+ / 0-)

          You mean...

          •  No. I think the IRS combs over returns from the (0+ / 0-)

top 1% on pretty much a yearly basis, and while Rmoney's got lots of accountants and lawyers who get him every tax break, I'm sure the IRS has accepted his returns.  Much as we might howl over his probably paying no taxes on some if not all of his returns, and there was probably that Swiss Tax Amnesty that he took advantage of, I think what he did was probably everything allowed under all the loopholes created by Congress to give the 1% as much of a break as possible.  I further think Rmoney realized that if his returns became public, there would be such an outcry that he and the other 1% would lose many of their deductions and capital gains would have the rate increased, costing them millions.
