He went to California to give a speech to inform the citizens of WI what he has coming up on his next budget.  While I resent his going out of state to give the details on his budget, at the same time I realize that he did so because he's a chickensh** coward and scared of his own constituents because he knew the area around the State Capitol in Madison would erupt once again with protests against what he's planning had he given that speech at the Capitol.

As far as eliminating same-day registration, if he gets that written in to law (and he likely will), all those of us who are Democrats/Progressives in this state will simply plan ahead and we will register voters en masse well in advance of the next election.  What he (and the snivelling weasel Robin Vos) are aiming for is to prevent students at the many college campuses throughout the state from being able to register and vote on the same day.  That's easily dealt with:  when students come back each fall to their campus, we'll just register them to vote at the same time.  So this ploy of his will not work.  By the way, I still believe that Walker won the recall because it was held AFTER the students had left college campuses to return to their home states.  Had they been here, his ass would be GONE.

... a state has to either offer same-day registration or they have to implement a 'motor voter' registration system.

If Wisconsin does away with same-day, then Wisconsin will get motor-voter, and Republicans don't much like that either. So I'm not sure Walker will get very far with this once they look at 'motor voter'.
