to the gerrymandering after the 2010 census?

Has anyone done a diary on this?

The fact that many districts may have been jiggered beyond the possible mixes the message of GOP retention of house control.

Bill Maher mentioned that in PA, more people voted for Dem house members than Republicans, but the makeup is 12 - 6 Republican. I don't have time to tally up the votes, but you can easily see at the link below that there was only one race within 10 points. The average / mean split seems to be around 15 points. So this is the effect of heavy gerrymandering, and the only thing that can change it is taking over the State legislature (which may not be possible as they are also gerrymandered).
The bigger issue is that Republicans have absolutely no agenda other than tax cuts to 3% of Americans, and giving away 100's of billions or trillions in defense contracts and privatization of our social framework. They have stopped being a viable party, but the masses still love them.

I'm in the 13th where Allison Schwartz is pretty safe, as were the D seats in most of the other 5 districts where we won

There were 6 seats that the D candidate lost by between 25 and 50K votes.  As you and Maher point out, only one was even close- within 10% (Kathy Bookvar in Bucks county, I recall)

I'm all for tossing the state legislative bums out on their keisters but we have until 2020 to get that done.  In the short term how do we make up 25-50K votes in these 6 districts?

We need an issue that will clearly put the GOP mainstream Reps at odds with local interests.

I think we need a contest.

        Ideas?
