  •  the politicians yes, but the billionaire donors? (9+ / 0-)

A lot of this is coming straight from them, along with their mouthpieces in the wingnutosphere. I don't think they want it at all.  They'll be fine and that's all that matters.

If they dont have sufficient insurance (large deductible, co-insurance, etc), those very low interest rate SBA/disaster assistance loans to rebuild their homes and businesses are useful.

They'll complain about FEMA all day, while their assistants are filling out the paperwork for the loans.

You make the common and honest mistake of thinking these people stand for any sort of principles. They don't. Self-interest is their only guiding principle. I've seen the most vehement "Big Government" Critics push their way to the front of the line to get "what I'm entitled to" when disasters happen.

The sheer audacity of it is breathtaking. And when questioned about it, they simply turn the question around, "why shouldn't I? I've paid into the system all these years."  There is no overriding moral principle here.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.
