  •  I would go further (11+ / 0-)

I would make an example out of Macy's, or any other company that does this stuff, like Papa John's, by instituting a permanent boycott.

There is nothing Macy's can do to ever get my business back.

That may not give them an incentive to change now and drop Trump, but it hopefully will make other companies think twice before they do this sort of thing again.  Otherwise, they threaten it and then, like the franchisee Metz, when the franchising company puts the hammer down, Metz apologizes and thinks everything goes back to normal.  Screw that.

As far as I'm concerned, you cross the line once, you're out of business.  Game, set, match.  So don't do it.

    •  It's not really fair to put Macy's in the same (4+ / 0-)

category as Papa John's. They made a business decision that they thought would benefit them. They were wrong, and we have the right to tell them that. But Papa John just made up a bunch of bullcrap because he doesn't want to provide health care to his employees. That's a serious infraction, and deserves all the ill will we can conjure.

But I live in NYC and loathe Trump, like every other New Yorker I know.  The fact that they would put him in a commercial indicates such stupidity and lack of knowledge of their customers that I don't know if I would want to do business with them.
