    a career by making a bad call on that one.  A lot of ways to go wrong and not a lot of ways to go right.

      make a bad call on it before. Gil Levin's test now has to be called "inconclusive" at worst. And they did ruin his career. So it goes both ways.

      What I can't believe is that news of this moment doesn't see NBC, WSJ, NYT, etc. etc. all camping out in Pasadena.

      These guys are just not equipped to resist journamlism. Not even every spy can do that.

      So, in short, I think humanity deserves to know more, there's no security reason (gosh... is there?) to keep it secret, opening up the data will only make the scrutiny better, claiming a null result can be just as wrong as making an "extraordinary" claim (whatever that is).
