    Republicans really believe that back then, we had low taxes and no regulation. But the more you cut taxes, the more people complain about how high taxes are, the more you deregulate, the more people complain about how much regulation there is.

    Orwell was an optimist, he assumed that you had to ruthlessly suppress information, or the public would find it. But the information is out there and not hard to get at all. Many people just don't lift a finger to get it, they just flip to Fox News.
