  •  It's the right-wing bubble (8+ / 0-)

I guarantee you, each and every one of these guys think that their overt right wing stance will actually gain them customers. After all, all the people they actually talk to, all the news they listen to and watch tells them that this is how EVERYONE feels! Putting an anti-Obama sign in front of the business would be just like putting up an American flag!

This mindset is older than you think. Back in the 1990's, the owner of a local chain of car dealerships here in Northeast Ohio used to run 60-second ads on local radio, the first 30-seconds of which were a Limbaugh-style rant. It probably made him popular with the demographic that listens to AM radio, but word eventually got out wider. He hasn't run those ads in a long time. It seems that lesson can be learned.

    •  At my local hardware store the owner was (6+ / 0-)

cashing out a customer. Customer was complaining about some political thing. Owner listened; remained neutral; smart business.

Have been to tourist venues where a store has "limbaugh-stye" signs/merchandise. We don't patronize but they have customers so there is a niche market.

Virginia City, Nevada comes to mind. Remember seeing a shop like that. Kind of turned me off from going again.
IMO, hurts the the town's entire business community.
