    You and I have, I think, quite similar back stories.  I taught in PG for five years before moving into a DC school (Anacostia).  

    Unfortunately, my wife's job required us to relocate to Austria for a couple of years before coming back to the DC area after just one year at Ana.  So now I'm teaching out in Loudoun County as a replacement teacher, not having arrived back in the States until September.  

    I have lunch with a big group of my former students each month - both from Ana and from PG.  And the thing is that as many kids from Ana come to the lunch as do the kids from my time in PG.  I got to know the kids in PG more, of course, but they didn't need me as much as the kids from Ana.  And they're always so happy to see me.  

    Keep your head up.  I know you know this, but they do appreciate everything you'll do.
