here. Bold and agressive isn't their style in governing.

Merkley's deal is on the table and it is improvement. It isn't terrible.

I thought they (Merkley and Udall) were going to reduce the votes needed to pass something incrementally, over several votes. Do you know if that's still in the works? It seems to me they already have to stick around and talk for some things. Remember that jerk Bunning who was trying to hold up UI? He talked. He complained about the fact that he was missing a game. Not too concerned about those who wouldn't eat because he was cutting their benefits.

votes needed to pass something incrementally over several votes is Tom Harkin's plan, and I think it's a very good one.
It'd take some time, but eventually there'd be a majority vote taken, while Senators would have all the chance they wanted to talk to their heart's content.

become part of the reform package? I'm not particularly concerned about time. This is the same Senate that spent two years passing nothing. While requiring senators to speak for a prolonged period of time may tire them out, if they still can't get the votes to pass a bill, it's sort of pointless. Hell, Sen. Sanders spoke for 8.5 hours one day, and it would be difficult to find 10 random people who know that, or know what he said.

    •  This isn't a matter of style (0+ / 0-)

Senate Democrats have been getting everything they wanted out of the Senate the last few years.

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.
