    were crap.

This had to be one of the worst group of so-called professionals in recent election history.

From the ex-Hollywood script writer whose best script is his own exaggerated biography to foreign policy "expert" Dan Senor who filled Romney's head full of names of countries to drop in at inappropriate times (e.g. Mali.)

The choice of Ryan was bizarre.

The contrast between the two campaign staffs was a stark reminder to everyone with eyes on how effective a leader each respective candidate was.

It's the job of the nominee to believe in himself -- to draw energy from his crowds and become so bursting with confidence that it rains down on everyone who sees him.  Hell, Walter Mondale in 1984 has admitted that his crowds in the Fall were so big and enthusiastic that he believed he was going to win.  And he lost 49 states.

But it's the job of the senior campaign leadership to believe none of the hype.  To ask the tough questions about every poll, every assumption about turnout, likely vs. certain voters, etc.

I still find it hard to believe that Romney's senior staff truly believed the unskewed polls, the myth of momentum, the juvenile Morrisian claims about undecided voters breaking overwhelmingly for the challenger.

I find it hard to believe because these guys are supposed to be professionals.

Then again, these are the putzes in charge of Orca, which was craptacularly failtastic.

And, ultimately, I'm less surprised when I realize the likelihood that Romney hired people who would say what he wanted to hear.

      Binders full of fail!
