  •  I wonder what's become of Bremer's dictates. (14+ / 0-)

The one that sticks out in my mind is his dictate that Iraqi farmers were no longer allowed to save seed...no longer allowed to farm in the traditions that have served them well for a thousand years.  They were only going to be allowed to plant "modern" Monsanto seed.

Being close to agriculture all my life, that absolutely sent me into orbit!

And what happened with the 26 year old guy put in charge of setting up the "Iraqi stock market"?  As I recall his vast professional experience was in real estate.

What ignorant jackasses. Not a single one of them who planned and executed the trashing of Iraq knew (or cared) one whit about the terrain and culture they invaded.

Someone should do a list of "Where are they now?"...and what remains of their brilliant "liberation" laws.

required reading for every American, and every voter:

No wonder the republic party thinks govt is the problem; because every republic party-run govt is incompetent and should be drowned in a bathtub before it can do more damage.

Mr. Senor was barely 30 years old.  All the old pus bag cowards sat in their undisclosed, scrubbed from Google Earth, locations sending juvenile right-wingers to make things even worse.

Stop. Smoking. Clinics.? How could anyone be that disconnected?

I'm reading an account of WWII...how unprepared Russia was for Hitler's invasion.  Stalin had been given the intelligence ahead of time, but he refused to believe it and refused to prepare for it.  Disconnect from reality didn't start with CheneyCo, but they sure had it perfected.

    •  Reviewing Frontline documentaries is telling. (4+ / 0-)

Yesterday I spent some time re-watching the Frontline shows (available for free viewing online at frontline.org) on the Iraq War (in particular those in the period from 2002 to 2007), and just got infuriated all over again.

What's amazing is, with the benefit of just a couple of years of post-shrub hindsight, how starkly foolish and incompetent that administration's decisions and decision-makers were.

And when some idiot like rmoney gets propped up and taps the same set of morons as his foreign policy brain-trust, and never gets called on it, it makes wonder at the incompetence of the media.

After watching those documentaries, and the foolish, uninformed comments of the shrub administration officials, I get chills thinking about the bullet this country dodged in 2012.
