me of that saying, "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

The Republican base continues to dig like mad.

Makes you wonder...Where are they trying to go in such a hurry?

    Perfect Tom. Perfect.

"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you see every problem as a nail." One of the GOP's tools has been attacking minorities, and increasingly, women. This sells with to their base, but not outside of it.

There are some in the GOP that realize that they have a problem with minorities and women. But what to do about it? They don't seem willing to admit that the problem is the message, not how they communicate their message. Instead of changing, they double down, becoming more extreme, rather than less.

Bullying is the GOP's response to minorities and women. When there is a demographic that isn't giving them their support, rather than trying to win back their support, they threaten that group. I remember when both Republicans and Democrats courted the union vote (really, it wasn't all that long ago!). But as the GOP adopted more and more anti-union stances, they lost union support. Republicans now see unions as merely arms of the Democratic Party, but if the GOP wasn't anti-union, union members would be much more likely to vote Republican. The GOP thinks that they can bully people into supporting them, but it merely drives them away.

Do not fully understand that they are racist.

You can tell them.  They get offended and whiny.

By encouraging racism, the GOP has also encouraged their self-destruction.
