    Due they think it's some kind of punctuation? A fee? A food?

    However, reading the 12 Amendment makes it clear why the Pres and VP candidates are from different states. The electors of the state they were from wouldn't be able to vote for both of them.

    That wasn't a problem when the Pres and VP were running separately. But it is when they're on the same ticket.

    That's why Cheney had to revert to his WY residency. If both him and Bush were from TX, those electors wouldn't be able to vote for them both.

    That might have made a difference in the outcome in 2000. We might have wound up with Bush/Lieberman.
