a major difference from the previous reps in this area, and supports women's reproductive health care, equal pay for women, LGBT rights, among other things. Sandra Fluke came down here and headlined one of his campaign events.

Our district is evenly divided between Dems and Repubs, so no Dem will win unless Republicans vote for him, and vice versa. If you want to know what Patrick supports, see PatrickMurphy2012.com.  He campaigned on those issues, and he won a good chunk of Republican votes. No doubt some people voted for him just because he wasn't Allen West, but he ran on a Democratic platform.

He was a hard-working campaigner, and never lost an opportunity to talk to and listen to voters, in fact created many of those opportunities.

If he works as hard in Congress as he did to get elected, he will be an effective rep for us. In order to be reelected, he will have to be effective --  because there sure won't be much wiggle room in this district.

    •  I am glad for you with your new rep! (1+ / 0-)

      thanks for the info

I'd assumed he'd not been able to run as a progressive (discusion up thread) because of purple red tone of district.

he sounds like he ran on what he really believed in, whether I should call that progressive or not it shows intergity.

I like that even more to be honest.
