I haven't seen any suggestions to do away with the filibuster entirely. The kinds of reforms I've supported have involved doing away with the "paper filibuster", where one side says "we gonna filibuster that" and the other responds "oh, in that case, we won't go there".  If someone feels strongly enough about something to filibuster, then they need to do something akin to the old fashioned "stand up and talk all night" filibuster. If nothing else it brings the debate to public view. You know the media would cover it, and the issue would get broader discussion. As it stands now most people don't even know there was a "filibuster", or why.
